Work from home, supported by useful resources and a professional, communicative home-based childcare team that’s been helping and connecting with home based Educators for many years.
We’re big on family and we’re big on looking after our people. But we’re not aiming to be the biggest home-based childcare provider in New Zealand, we’re committed to being the very best.
We’re a friendly, inclusive, 100% Kiwi-owned business that welcomes early childhood preschool Educators from communities across New Zealand.
Do the job you love in the comfort of your own home and use your creativity to make a positive learning environment that reflects your own teaching style and personality.
You decide your hours and days of work, what time of the day you start and finish and if you want to work full-time or part-time as long as it is within our licensed hours.
Plenty of time for the individual attention children need to flourish. Home Grown Education keeps group size to four children under the age of six, including Educators’ own children.
We welcome you with plenty of practical advice and promotional support to get your home based Early Childhood Education service up and running, including a free marketing pack with everything you need to get started. You’ll receive helpful resources and regular check in communication.
You’ll have the opportunity to meet up with other Educators and share ideas.
There are monthly opportunities to learn alongside other educators and develop a strong network.
Fun playgroups and community outings become a great attraction for families. We have excursions with other services frequently.
You’ll be supported by one of our amazing Early Childhood qualified Coordinators. Coordinators come to your home at least once a month to encourage, support your learning activities and answer questions, helping you with the children in your care. They are also a friendly voice on the phone offering strategies and advice whenever you need it.
Depending on the quality you provide, you can set your own fees. Plus, we provide a dedicated, friendly administration team to support you.
We can support you to achieve a level 4 in Early childhood Education teaching. Most of our educators become qualified teachers and make it a career.
You need to meet our home-based childcare requirements by providing a safe environment for children in your care. We will go through our conditions with you when we meet
You must have a current first aid certificate. We cover this cost and book you in – it’s a great certificate to have for your day-to-day living as well as for your care responsibilities.
You must have a passion and/or experience working with children. It’s essential that you have the ability to meet children’s needs and can create a stimulating, caring learning environment.
You and all members in your home (over 17 years of age) are required to pass a police vetting process.
You must be eligible to work legally in NZ or hold a working visa permit.
We value educators who use initiative and are pro active. This makes it easier to grow your business and reach a high standard.
Upon joining our Home Grown family, you’ll be given a Support Manual that includes a folder full of all the information (policies, procedures, documents and forms) to support and guide you in your business. Your Coordinator will welcome you in person and walk you through the materials. When you need to find an answer, this folder is your go-to!
Our team are committed to supporting you to promote your service and help you engage with children and families in your area. While we encourage you to market yourself and connect with your community, in person and through social media, we’ll also provide you with a full marketing kit – including business cards, flyers and advertising materials.
We partner together to promote our service to the wider community. We also have a website and social media accounts that we can use to promote further.
We provide you and your families an e-portfolio through Storypark. An amazing, easy to use digital tool, Storypark enables us to deepen the level of communication we have with the immediate family and the child’s wider community. You can add learning stories and photos/videos of children on to their personal Storypark page. Parents will have primary access and are able to invite others to share their children’s experiences. This may include overseas relatives, specialists the child may be seeing, or the child’s future primary school teacher – people that are important to the child and their whanau. Storypark gives Educators a way to share information and collaborate in a partnership of learning with each child’s family and community.
